Woman accused of pushing toddler onto train tracks found fit to stand trial

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — An Oregon woman accused of pushing a toddler onto train tracks has been found fit to stand trial.

Brianna Workman is facing charges in the Dec. 2022 attack in which she allegedly shoved a 3-year-old onto the tracks at a MAX station.

A Multnomah County judge made this ruling on Tuesday, deeming that Workman is mentally sound enough to be tried in a court of law. She will be in court Thursday to set future court dates.

The incident caught on security video shows the suspect, believed to be Workman, shoving an unrelated 3-year-old child onto the tracks at the Gateway Transit Center.

A mother and child were waiting for a MAX train when Workman allegedly shoved the child, aged three, off of the platform and onto the MAX train tracks without provocation,” the district attorney’s office said.

The child was not seriously injured, and Workman was arrested and handed charges of assault, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment.
