ANNANDALE, Va. (7News) — ANNANDALE, Va. (WJLA) — A 94-year-old Fairfax County woman is on a mission to give others a piece of comfort.
Theresa Fruet has been crocheting afghans for 40 years and has donated more than 1,000 to date.
“I don’t do much anymore," Fruet said humbly. "So, I don’t have too much to tell and with this COVID thing you don’t go anyplace."
The Fairfax County woman spends most of her time these days giving back.

“Yeah, I guess I did help to make someone a little more comfortable,” Fruet said. “Now, for the homeless I made them, we even used to take them down where those, God have mercy on them, they walk the streets and I just gave it to them."
“This is the one I am working on now” she pointed.
She began crocheting afghans after she made one for her parents 40 years ago.
“It’s just a blanket that I started to keep over your legs," Fruet explained. "It keeps the chill off."
Recently, she’s been crocheting them for residents at Marian Homes – a local nonprofit that provides homes for people with disabilities.
“It’s a simple process but I like to add color to it because people might enjoy it a little more if there is color” Fruet stated.
